The dry air makes the area ideal for stargazing, and visitors also enjoy an observatory and visitor’s center complete with fossils and the largest public-access telescope in the west.
Outdoors enthusiasts come from around the world to experience Idaho’s whitewater rafting and camping. Hells Canyon, the deepest river gorge in North America, provides countless adrenaline-pumping whitewater rapids and 900 miles of trails. In addition, you’ll find ample public and private camping areas scattered throughout the state, set next to gin-clear rivers, lava flows, mountains and sand dunes. Starry skies come standard, and natural hot springs add rustic luxury to many areas.
For a day trip, float the Boise River through the heart of town, hike or bike in the Eagle foothills, play a round at one of the area’s many golf courses, visit a city park, pool, or Roaring Springs water park.
