Year round, Idaho delivers a wealth of outdoor activities and your home in Avimor puts you in the center of some of the finest recreational opportunities in the West.
Southwest Idaho is home to hundreds of miles of trails. Whether you hike, bike, jog or ride horses, you’ll feel amazing after taking in some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. Boise's main trail system, Ridge to Rivers, includes 97 miles of interconnected roads and trails, linking neighborhoods with both private and public land.
If snow sports are your style, spend a weekend on the many powder-white slopes in the area. Bogus Basin is just 50 minutes from Avimor, with 2600 acres of skiing for every level from first-time skier to black diamond downhiller. In Central Idaho, Brundage promises the best snow in the state with over 300 inches annually. Tamarack Resort provides shopping, dining and entertainment in addition to snow sports. And the fun doesn’t stop when the snow melts. These four-season resorts are open year round with summer packages available.
Idaho is also known for its stunning sand dunes. In Eastern Idaho, Saint Anthony features more than 10,000 acres of glittering white quartz sand. Closer to Boise, the Bruneau Sand Dunes boast North America’s tallest free-standing dune at 470 feet. The dry air makes the area ideal for stargazing, and visitors also enjoy an observatory and visitor’s center complete with fossils and the largest public-access telescope in the west.
Outdoors enthusiasts come from around the world to experience Idaho’s whitewater rafting and camping. Hells Canyon, the deepest river gorge in North America, provides countless adrenaline-pumping whitewater rapids and 900 miles of trails. In addition, you’ll find ample public and private camping areas scattered throughout the state, set next to gin-clear rivers, lava flows, mountains and sand dunes. Starry skies come standard, and natural hot springs add rustic luxury to many areas. For a day trip, float the Boise River through the heart of town, hike or bike in the Eagle foothills, play a round at one of the area’s many golf courses, visit a city park, pool, or Roaring Springs water park.
